Buon 94° compleanno, Cavaliere Ernesto Gazzola.

ERNESTO GAZZOLA TURNS 94: THE ROOTS OF AN ITALIAN SUCCESS STORY THAT CONQUERED THE WORLD
From a small artisan workshop established in 1962 to a company generating €23 million in annual turnover, employing 66 people and exporting 90% of its products. Gaerne celebrates its founder, honoring tradition, three generations of family leadership, Made in Italy excellence and a lifelong passion for the land and olive oil.
Coste di Maser (Treviso), October 18, 2026 – Ninety-four years old, with a lifetime dedicated to work, family and his homeland. Cavaliere Ernesto Gazzola, founder of Gaerne, celebrates a remarkable milestone today, continuing to embody the spirit and values of a company that began as a small artisan workshop in the foothills of the Asolo hills and has grown into a brand known and appreciated worldwide.
From His First Shoes to International Success
Ernesto Gazzola’s story began at the age of just 13, when he started working as a shoemaker’s apprentice, learning a craft built on manual skill, dedication, sacrifice and meticulous attention to detail.
In the years that followed, he worked in a factory during the day and continued making shoes in his spare time in the evenings, supported by his wife Vittoria, who played a fundamental role in both his life and the creation of the company. Riding his Vespa, he would travel to the market in Montebelluna to sell his first handmade shoes.
In 1962, Gaerne was officially founded. The brand name combines the opening letters of its founder’s surname and first name: GAzzola ERNEsto. Starting with mountain boots, the company gradually expanded its production, eventually specializing in technical footwear for motorcycling and cycling.
Today, 64 years after its foundation, Gaerne employs 66 people, generates an annual turnover of €23 million and exports 90% of its products to international markets.
This international success has been achieved while remaining firmly rooted in the company’s origins: Made in Italy manufacturing, traditional craftsmanship, technological innovation and a strong connection to Maser, where the company continues to operate.
Three Generations, the Same Values
One of the most meaningful aspects of this story is the continuity of the family business. Alongside Ernesto, his children Gianna, Gianni and Marta have contributed to Gaerne’s growth and development, helping transform it from a small artisan workshop into an internationally recognized manufacturing company.
Today, the third generation is also actively involved in this journey, with his grandson Andrea playing an important role in the company’s development and in shaping its future.
Three generations united by the same philosophy: respect for people, passion for work, commitment to quality and the determination to innovate without ever forgetting their roots.
A Passion for Olive Trees and Olive Oil: The Roots of a Lifetime
Beyond his achievements in business, another great passion tells the story of Ernesto Gazzola: his love for olive trees and the production of his own olive oil.
Among the hills of Maser, Ernesto continues to devote himself to his olive trees, taking great pride in caring for them, harvesting the olives and producing his own olive oil. It is a special source of satisfaction for someone who has always believed in the value of creating things with his own hands.
“Making good olive oil takes time, patience and care. Building a company is much the same: you need to work with passion, respect people and never forget where you came from.”
This philosophy has guided Ernesto throughout his life and remains the most precious legacy he has passed on to future generations.
At 94, Cavaliere Ernesto Gazzola remains a source of inspiration and a point of reference for his family and everyone who works at Gaerne.
His story is also the story of a region and a generation of Italian entrepreneurs whose hard work, courage and determination helped bring Made in Italy excellence to the world.
Because, just like the olive trees Ernesto loves so dearly, a company can only spread its branches far and wide when its roots remain strong and deep.
Happy 94th Birthday, Cavaliere Ernesto Gazzola!
